Weekly Inspiration with ODBD

What are you inspired by? I love delicate patterns and pastel colors… I love to add layers and dimension to a project. I love to inspire others too! All of this things inspire me to create and motivate me to keep on doing what I do. Today I am sharing a card I made with beautiful papers, stamps and dies from Our Daily Bread Designs, using one of the new dies in an unconventional way.

I wanted to create a decorative column for the background using various layers. I had been wanting to use the new Pegboard die from ODBD in an unexpected way and what I did is die cut two pegboards and cut about 1/4″ from them and then cut one of them in half. The pegboard column adds a so much detail and interest to the card.

Another interesting touch I added was the vellum frame. I die cut one Lacey Square from ODBD, cut it in thirds and adhere the two remainding corners under the sentiment label. This is the last thing I added to the card, and I actually had to come back and add that finishing touch to be completely satisfied. It does make a difference and it softens the design nicely.

I hope I’ve inspired you today. Thanks so much for your visit! Before I go, tell me… What inspires you?

Have a great weekend!

A Sweet Wedding Card

Hello and welcome to a new post for Hiding in my Craft Room. I haven’t been hiding in my craft room so much lately… Instead I’ve been spending some quality time with family and taking care of hubby who got sick last week and that’s the reason why I didn’t make a HIMCR card last Saturday.

This time we have a sweet challenge for you all: Wedding.

Our sponsor
The Paper Shelter

is giving away a $20 gift certificate
to one lucky winner!
I had the chance to work with one of their sweet images. To my surprise their files include a pre-colored digi!

Materials:
The Paper Shelter – The Happy Couple
Spellbinders: Damask Motifs, Gold Circles One, Gold Labels Four, Iron Works embossing folder, Grand Calibur die cutting machine.

Distress ink in Old Paper
Merletto crystals
Adhesives: UHU All Purpose Adhesive, Bazic foam tape and two sided tape.
Other generic materials:
7/8″ gross grain ribbon in soft pink

Metallic cardstock in cream and soft pink
Tule

The card base was a left over of some actual CAS wedding invitations I was commended to make (didn’t take pictures of those, no time). The image is pre-colored so it was a matter of layering die cuts and adding embellishments to finish the card. I crossed two pieces of ribbon and added a double bow and some tule to give it a delicate look.

I hope you liked this sweet wedding card and that you feel inspired to participate on our weekly challenge. There’s no need to use digital stamps, or our sponsor stamps whatsoever, as long as you follow the theme. Visit Hiding in my Craft Room to see what my teammates made.

Remember to stop by my latest giveaway post and comment for a chance to win my newest digital paper pack!

Thanks for your visit.

Folding Screen Card

Hi! It’s nice to be back with a new project. I have had some ideas in mind for a card, and today I was able to make it. It’s actually an accordion card, but it has a little twist, it’s made to look like a folding screen.

I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to join some of my favorite challenges, and I went ahead and used some elements to inspire my design: A photo from House of Cards, A color combo from Our Daily Bread (white on white), and a theme from Craft Hoarders Anonymous (fun fold).

I decided I wanted to capture the white elements of this image, the basket’s lattice and the florals. There so much texture to it. I really like it.

Also, I wanted to use a verse stamp from ODBD: “He makes all things beautiful in His time” from the set Faith, because I like it so very much.

Materials
Dies: Spellbinders – A2 Matting Basics A, Adorning Squares, French Frills, Majestic Lables Twenty-Five, Classic Decorative Inserts Three, Classic Edges Two, Labels Four, Small Lables, Fancy Lattice, Carnation Creations, Grand Calibur die cutting machine. Xcut – Leafy Flourishes
Marvy Uchida Jumbo Punch, butterfly
Making Memories Paper – Wedding
Our Daily Bread Stamps – Faith
Brilliance ink (used to emboss with definition)

Inkadinkado embossing powder in Silver Starlight
Zap! heat tool
Merletto crystals
Adheseves: Bazic two sided tape and foam tape, Elmer’s Glue-All, Uhu glue stick
Other generic materials
Eggshell white cardstock
Vellum
2″ one sided lace
3″ Rough edge burlap ribbon in white
7/8″ satin ribbon
1 7/8″ tulle ribbon

This card is 4 1/2″ x 3 5/8″ when closed and 11″ long when opened. For the front of the card I cut a frame and layered it with a vellum lattice die cut. I also added a bunch of elements, starting with lace and a border. Then on the side I attached some white carnations, a vellum butterfly, strips of burlap, a flourish, a dress form, tulle ribbon and a bow. All the shapes are die cuts, except for the butterfly which is actually a punch.

For the inside of the card, I layered one side with burlap ribbon and added the heat embossed sentiment, embellished with an Eiffel Towel die cut and another vellum butterfly. For the other side I created a pocket and fancy tag.

Last but not least, the folding screen’s little legs were made using a label die, and that gave the design a nice touch. All the textures and shapes used give this card a lot of interest. During the process of making it, I realized it was going to end up being a wedding or anniversary card. It’s an actual challenge to make a white on white card that does not look like one of those (something I’d like to achieve).

This was a fun, fun project to make, and I’m glad it turned out like I had planned. I hope you like it. Thanks so much for stopping by!
