Valentine’s Giveaway WINNER!

Hello hello!!! As promised I’m here to announce the winner of a Shery K. Designs digital paper pack. I arrived not long ago from the hospital, my baby got seriously ill and we spent the last 24 hours there. Bless the Lord he got well considerably fast from what was a stomach infection. The nurses catheterized his itty bitty hand which traumatized me at first… So hard to watch! But then he dealt with it greatly and didn’t complain at all, rested well and got better. I am taking care of him, but as proof of his recovery this brave little boy helped me pick the winner! Each participant’s name was written on a piece of paper and he chose one! And with no further ado, the lucky winner is:

PaperCrafting WithAngelina dijo…
Love this book. Thank you for sharing how you put it together. I am now following you on Pinterest, Facebook and via email. Thanks for the opportunity to win this beautiful paper pack.

My dear Angelina, please send me your email address to my Facebook page so Shery can send you your prize!

I look forward to more giveaways, so stay tuned!

BIG HUG TO ALL OF YOU GIRLS THAT CARE AND COME VISIT ME EVERY TIME YOU CAN! Your comments and support mean so much to me and make me happy! I am truly thankful to God for giving me the opportunity of knowing you!

Valentine’s Mini Paperpad and a GIVEAWAY

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY to all of you that so dearly visit me everyday! As promised I have a sweet and cute little project that will make someone´s day today (my sister´s boyfriend)… It´s a mini Valentine´s notepad. This is the project I was working on when my Grand Calibur´s handle broke… Aham, this is the one! The request was to make a pad with the exact number of pages that this couple has been together in days. I could only get to cut 29 pages, they had to be many more, but even so I finished the project. Here it is:

Every page in the pad is embellished. It is supposed to be bulky, but the way I glued the pages together helped to keep it stable. I bind the pages with a method I’ve seen in Office Depot (referring to the one in my country). They press firmly the pages together, and they apply a special hot glue on the edge of the bulk of paper at the same time that they place a strip of paper (long as the pages are and wide enough to wrap them together). They use a machine for this. But the thing is that so many things can be done at home too, just stay curious and try it out. Here is a picture I found on the web:

I didn’t use a wood press, because I worked with fewer and smaller pages. I used a hot glue gun to stick the little pad. You have to be very fast and try to apply the glue evenly and wrap the pages with the strip of paper quickly. And you shouldn’t open the pad but until it´s completely dry.

I hope you enjoyed this little project today, and maybe, just maybe you are motivated to try it yourself.

Now for the giveaway! Even better than Valentine´s treats are blog candies don’t you think! Today you have the opportunity to win one of my favorite digital paper sets from Shery K. Designs. These are great quality papers that you can print endlessly at home. Each paper measures 12 x 12 inch. You may recall that I use the vintage handwriting paper frequently. This set is one of my very favorites.

A card I love with a twist…

There are some cards that have to be done again. The Cottage Charm card, is one of them. I must confess I’m in love with sketches that allow some sort of window layout to the card. In the case of this specific card, it’s a window created by the amount of layers and the way they are placed.

So today, I have a remake of the card I love, with a sketch I came up with through trial and error and a twist in the color palette. This image can give you a better idea:

One very important detail is that this card is quite larger (6 1/4 ” long by almost 5″ wide) compared to the original one. But it kept it’s charm. Here it is…

Shery K. Designs paper – Antoinette
Haj Design paper – Gorgeous Roses
– Grand Large Labels
– Butterfly Magic
– A2 Filigree Delight
– Fancy Framed Tags Two
Color Box pigment ink in pink
Ranger distress ink in Spun Sugar
My Pink Stamper – Spanish Sayings
Stampendous – Spanish Messages
Merletto pearls and crystals
Other generic Materials
Kraft heavy weight paper
Old blue pearlescent paper
1 inch pink ribbon
2 inch one sided lace

This is Valentine’s card. The sentiments I stamped are in Spanish and translated it says: “Princess… I love you”. I really hope you like it. This card has a tiny bit of my heart in it. 🙂

Cottage Charm

There is a challenge that always inspires me. The reason? Unknown. This site makes my inspiration flow in a way no other does. It is the Our Daily Bread blog. This week they have an inspiration challenge going on ODBDSLC187 based on this picture:

Wow, what a beautiful color palette to work with… And so many little details to pick up and transfer to a project. This is what I came up with:

In the card for today I definitely worked with every single color in the picture. I used at least 4 different layers to show them. The first layer is a vintage handwriting paper, which is my interpretation of the antique cottage decor. The second layer is the exact tone of blue that appears in various decorative elements.

The third layer is ribbon and lace; the first one, picks up that cherry blossom pink that I love, and the second one brings that doily feeling to the card.

The fourth layer is a tricky one… Can you guess what I was thinking of when I did it? See those pretty details on that floral china? Yes! Also, this layer frames all the others just like that center door from the china cabinet. And it shows more tones of pink from the cherry blossoms too.

Haj Design paper – Gorgeous Roses
– A2 Matting Basics A
– Butterfly Magic
– A2 Filigree Delight

Ranger distress ink in Spun Sugar
Flourishes stamp – Cherry Blossoms

Other generic materials

Once again I hope this card is good enough for the challenge. Let me know if you like it.
