Sweet ‘n Shabby Chic

Hello there! It’s Gracie posting today and I’m glad to have the chance to share with you another card I designed using the beautiful and versatile products carried by Classy Cards ‘n Such store. I created a shabby chic card with lots and lots of layers and elements.

I started off die cutting two labels with Spellbinders Decorative Labels Twenty Five. You can also get the same result using the classic Labels Twenty-Five, available at the store. I die cut one label from pink cardstock and another one from a digital floral patterned paper I designed, and that I printed on White Pearl Linen. The patterned label was also cut with a Spellbinders A2 Scalloped Borders One, but I suggest you check out A2 Curved Borders One, which would work nicely too. I mounted the patterned piece on top of the pink label, aligning them perfectly.

I added a piece of pink ribbon approximately across the middle of the layered label, vertically, hiding the ends behind the patterned piece. I adhered a Fantastic Flourish Three, and some vines die cut from green cardstock, one of my digital old handwriting patterned papers (also printed on White Pearl Linen), and Precious Metals Craft Foil by Spellbinders in gold that I painted with silver acrylic paint. I also attached some birds from Impression Obsession’s Birds Set, which I die cut twice and mounted to create a decoupage effect. I continued embellishing my label with some small flowers cut with Spellbinders Rose Creations and Carnation Creations, and that I adorned with some Baby Rhinestones – Silver. I also attached a little Fancy Label Tag One on which I stamped “with love” from Avery Elle’s Simply Tags stamp set. I framed the label with a medium die cut from Spellbinders Timeless Rectangles, cut from Stardream Rose Quartz, and then added some Baby Rhinestones – Silver to it’s corners.

Once the central label was fully embellished, I prepared my card base. The card base was cut from soft pink cardstock with A2 Matting Basics A. Then I layered it with a frame from A2 Filigree Delight. I added a piece of pink ribbon across the middle of the frame, horizontally, and then mounted the embellished label right on top of it. Finally I added a double bow decorated with a vintage button.

I love the final look of this shabby chic card. I hope you enjoyed seeing my card and reading how I made it! Remember that most of the supplies used are available now at Classy Cards ‘n Such store. Vintage Florals – House of Cards

Hello, and welcome to my post for this month’s challenge at House of Cards: Use a Punch and/or Die. It’s time for us, the Vintage & Shabby team, to share our cards!

I created a vintage card using some beautiful dies. I also worked with a color combination I haven’t used in a while: peach, beige and green.

//www.hangatag.com/js/a.js
The floral paper is the soul of this card. I actually used a digital paper I designed called Floral Frames 5, printed on linen cardstock. I love how the vintage florals look! I layered three different labels on the side of the card and cut the edges remainding outside the card base. I embellished the card with 3/8″ cream gross grain ribbon, pearls, crystals and a gold vintage button.

Three Roses

Welcome to a new post for Classy Cards ‘n Such weekly challenge: Cozy Plaids. It is with great joy, and a thankful heart that I write in this occasion, since today’s card represents a bunch of different good things in my life: Family, true friends, unconditional support and love.

To make my card I started by die cutting my card base with A2 Matting Basics A from off white cardstock. Then I printed a plaid digital paper, and a digital floral tag I designed, on White Pearl Linen. I die cut a matting frame and four corners with A2 Filigree Delight and a label with Fancy Label Tags One, both from the plaid patterned sheet. I die cut the floral tag with Elegant Ovals. I also used Elegant Ovals to cut a larger oval from beige cardstock.

I layered the four corners right on top of the frame’s corners to create a subtle tridimensional effect, subtle because both were cut from the same paper. I added a piece of pink ribbon vertically right on the center. Then I mounted the large oval, followed by the small oval which was decorated on its top and bottom ends with the patterned tag label. The tag label was actually cut in half, and I adhered the pieces to the back of the small oval, showing only the filigree ends.

To finish my card I stamped the word “family” from Prima’s Lady Bird Collection stamp set with Brilliance ink and die cut the sentiment with the smallest die from Fancy Label Tags One. And finally I embellished the die cuts with Baby Pearls – LeCreme.

I want to dedicate this card to two very special ladies, Beverly and Debbie. They are represented in this card by the two red roses, which are somehow sustaining a smaller pink rose, which I find represents me very well in this case. I want to thank these two ladies for their support and love, and for being there for me, like family.

I hope you find time to play along our challenge this week. To check out the supplies used to make this card, click on the links listed or click here to be directed to the Classy Cards ‘n Such store. Hello everyone! It’s about time I announce the winner of my last giveaway. Lots of things have happened recently and I really couldn’t find a moment to post the winner. Some of those things were really good and some not so much. To share a few, I had the opportunity to meet in person with a friend I got to know through my blog, a fan of my handmade cards, that came all the way from Belgium to visit her family. We had to meet, and I’m so glad we did. What a nice time we had! On the other hand a friend’s father passed away later that evening… His loss is even more significant to me because his dad passed away just the way my father did. Fall Roses

It’s time for another challenge at Classy Cards ‘n Such. Today I want to share with you the card I made for this week’s challenge: Stripes, Dots, Chevrons. You can use all of the patterns or just one of them! I decided to go for the dots, in vintage style.

To make my card, first I printed a digital patterned paper that I designed (soon to be released) on White Pearl Linen. Then I die cut the patterned paper with Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A.

To embellish the front of my card I die cut three ovals from Spellbinders Elegant Ovals, one medium size and two small ones. I created a medallion label with the last two, mounting one over the other. I ran across a piece of gross grain ribbon in cream between the medium oval and the small medallion label. I added a few pine leaves to one side of the ovals that were die cut from Poppy Stamps’ Pine Garland, that looks quite charming and goes along well with the Fall theme.

Before I adhered the ovals to the patterned layer I mounted them on a strip of beige cardstock that I previously stenciled with Metallic Gold Embossing Paste using a Large Damask brass stencil, both from Dreamweaver. To finish the design I added two Baby Pearls – LeCreme.

I enjoyed very much making my card. I loved using the rich, gold embossing paste, experimenting with my dies and seeing how it all resulted together with the roses and the dots.

I hope you can join our challenge this week! To visit the store and check out the supplies I used, click here.

Floral Tea Box – Craft Hoarders Anonymous GDT

Hello and welcome to my second post as Guest Designer for Gloria Stengel’s Craft Hoarders Anonymous challenge blog! As you may know by now I’ve been invited to join their amazing and talented team for the month of August. I’ve been having lots of fun making my projects and now is time to share my second creation inspired by the current challenge: “Button it Up!”.

Crafters of every stripe are button hoarders! Buttons are pretty, inexpensive, and extremely versatile. If you are a card maker, quilter, layout artist, or anything in between, you probably have a button hoard! Buttons come in many sizes, styles, shapes, and colors, plus they are easy to store…usually in cute containers! Pull out those bins of buttons and use some of them for your challenge project!

If you saw my first project for Craft Hoarders posted a couple of weeks ago, you know that I hoard vintage buttons (here). That project itself was made to contain those buttons so I could keep them handy! So, yes, I totally identify!

Today’s project showcases my vintage buttons very nicely, as part of a handmade floral bouquet. Please take a look at my floral tea box.

To make this adorable tea box I used my latest release in collaboration with Ewe-N-Me Printables: Gift Box and Tea Envelopes – Vintage Roses, that matches my latest paper pack release: Keys & Roses.

To decorate my box, I made a bunch of handmade flowers and a few leaves from leather textured cardstock, which I sponged with Distress Ink in Peeled Paint and Broken China, Color Box Chalk Ink in Yellow Citrus and Color Box Pigment Ink Frost White. I used Spellbinders Rose Creations, Carnation Creations and Bitty Blosssoms to die cut them. I added the flowers forming a falling bouquet. I decorated it with crystals, buttons and pearls.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my tea box today and that you feel inspired to join the challenge at Craft Hoarders Anonymous.

A special thank you note:

Gloria thanks so much for this incredible opportunity! It’s no secret that Craft Hoarders Anonymous has inspired me plenty… I’ve grown as a crafter by playing along with the challenges and by seeing all what you and your talented girls create. Thanks!

Good Luck! – Cardabilities #104

Time has gone by so fast and I can’t believe this is my last post for Cardabilities. It has been a pleasure to work with such amazing and talented designers. Karan’s sketches as you all know are so nice to work with and it has been a great honor to be part of her team. Thank you teammates and thank you Karan for having me.

The new sketch is up today and I know you’ll be inspired by it!

Materials
Spellbinders: Rose Creations, Carnation Creations, A2 Matting Basics A, Delicate Doilies,
Classic Edges Two, Classic Decorative Inserts Three.

Docrafts Xcut: Leafy Flourishes
Sin City Stamps: Butterfly Mask
Graciellie Design Paper – Keys & Roses
Distress Inks in Spun Sugar and Embossing.
Inkadinkado embossing powder in Silver
Zap! heat tool
Merletto pearls
Other generic materials
Cardstocks: Leather textured in soft pink, off white and light green. Linen in white. Metallic in pink.
Homemade paste

2″ one sided lace
Raffia ribbon in soft white
Pearl stamens in pink

This is a shabby chic card with lots of layers. The main patterned layer was wet and distressed letting show some lace on the background. Also I used some beautiful butterfly masks to stencil, using homemade paste. After that was done, I added the central layers and handmade flowers. The “Good Luck” Spanish sentiment was heat embossed in silver.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my card for today and that you feel inspired to join our challenge at Cardabilities. I send a big hug to my fabulous teammates. Know that I am very thankful for the great friends I’ve made and for the opportunity I was given. Thanks a bunch!

Little Balcony Card – Cardabilities #103

Hello and welcome to a new post for Cardabilities! A new sketch has been revealed, which means inspiration is about to knock at your door with this wonderful design by Karan Gerber:

I’m starting to think these sketches are magical, because they seem to get my mojo going right away… They’re so nice to work with!

Materials
Graciellie Design Paper: Keys & Roses
Spellbinders: Gold Labels Four, Classic Labels Four, Decorative Wrought Iron, Rose Creations, Bitty Blossoms, Timeless Rectangle, A2 Matting Basics A, Grand Calibur die cutting machine.
Stamps – Flourishes: Over the Garden Gate, Prima Marketing: Mini Background Polka Dot, Bo Bunny: It is Written
Inks – Ranger Distress: Old Paper, Brilliance: Tiramisu, Colorbox: Sky Blue, Memento: Rich Cocoa
Barrilito metallic acrylic paint in silver
Merletto: Pearls and vynil stickers, paper raffia
Adhesives: UHU all purpose adhesive, Elmer’s glue-all, Bazic foam tape and two sided tape.
Other generic materials
Cardstocks: Linen in white, Feuille in sand beige, metallic in light blue, leather textured in light pink and off white.
Pearl stamens in light pink

It was a delight to make this A2 card. I decided I would make a 3D balcony with a small rose bouquet hanging. I added quite a few embellishments but the little contorted branches were handmade. To make the balcony stay popped up, I added a little cardstock cube as support on the back.

TIP/ To make the contorted branches I used paper raffia: 1. Open the raffia breadthwise to extend the paper; 2. Rip a piece lenghtwise; 3. Roll it with your fingers to create paper cord; 4. Then roll it around a pencil to create the curl.

I distressed the card very much, I layered many stamps and finally I added some touches of metallic acrylic paint in silver, very roughly, to add detail.

In the end I realized the balcony theme went along well with the stamped sentiment:

Happiness often sneaks in through
a door you didn’t know you left open.
– John Barrymore

I hope you enjoyed this project as much as I did. Don’t forget to stop by Cardabilities to see what my amazingly talented teammates have made. To participate all you need to do is create a card or project using the new sketch, follow our guidelines and link up your project.

Thank you for your visit!
