Flamingo Foil-Mates Card Video Tutorial

Many of you may be wondering if the Foil-Mates paper is thick enough for techniques that use water, and the answer is yes. The paper has a very smooth finish and allows you to apply and blend inks easily. On the other hand, it will hold after using water moderately. On today’s card I sprayed water directly to the Foil-Mates background and although at first you might notice some texture on the spots the water touched, once it dries it will have its original smooth finish.

These cards are lots of fun to make, especially because the Foil-Mates background do the hard work for you… All you need to do is add a bit of color! Click below to learn how to make these Flamingo themed Foil-Mates cards!

Whenever I take a closer look at textured Christmas cards there’s usually a special snow texture paste used… (I actually have one of those.) But I’ll show you a way of achieving a very similiar look using supplies you may already have at home in combination with The Crafter’s Workshop texture pastes.

Monoprinted with Paints & Sparkle – Card with Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps

I’m sharing a new card with Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps today and I’m bringing lots of sparkle and mixed media to cheer up your day.

To make today’s card I monoprinted a background with my gel press, a stencil and craft paints and once I removed the card panel from the gel press, while the paint was still wet I sprinkled glitter, mica and other beautiful texture elements that add shimmer to to the card.

I made a border using a strip of patterned paper and an SVG border cut that I created and then added two flowers lightly colored and fussy cut. Finally I stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment, in beautiful cursive font, on a matching patterned paper banner. This Magnolia flower and this sentiment are from a set I designed for SNSS called Floral Greetings.

Hope you enjoyed today’s post. Until next time!

Lilac Inspiration with Magnolia Dreams – Blog Hop & Winners!

Today is our inspiration blog hop with our GD shop team and there will be so many different project ideas for you! I wanted to share an elegant an easy to make set of notecards in beautiful lilac and aqua. The new digital paper pack Magnolia Dreams has a color palette that allows you to play with a few more colors other than fuscia and teal. You’ll see me mixing and matching SVG cuts, some mine and another from a different designer and also traditional die cuts. Follow me to check out how I made these dreamy cards.

I am using 2 tones of lilac specialty cardstock and an aqua cardstock by by Paper Temptress, our collab partner this month who created a specialty paper pack that will let you make a large amount of projects in a variety of colors matching the patterns from our digital pack perfectly.

This card base has 3 different layers. I used Paper Temptress Aqua Basis 80#, Amethist Mica Metallic and Mountain Rose Glimmer.

Layer 1. I started of by cutting our A2 detailed medallion panel from the new Magnolia Dreams SVG pack on the Cricut Explore Air 2. That is going to be our first layer, sitting on top of the card base.

Layer 2. I also cut a Anna Griffin Flourish Cards and Embellishments card base sized to an A2. I did cut the back of the flourish card to create a matching layer for the medallion panel. Although the designs are different both of the panels match to perfection and you can see a hint of the flourish design under the medallion panel for a modern layered die cut look that is so on trend right now!

Layer 3. Our third layer is smooth. It’s a simple A2 card panel cut from one of the patterns in the new Magnolia Dreams digital paper pack. Place this panel underneath the flourish and medallion layers.

Layer 4. Of course we need to embellish our notecards. I cut a traditional stitched circle die cut from the new Therm O Web Gina K. Designs line (from the Large Set) and added it to the center of the card.

Layer 5. Add a piece of lilac gross grain ribbon across the card panel and then add the last layer, a medallion SVG embellishment that comes in the new Magnolia Dreams SVG pack. Optional: Add some sparkle to the medallion customizing it with glitter. There is a super easy way to make your own matching glitter svg cuts. More on that technique HERE.

A rhinestone embellishment finishes off these notecards beautifully. Notecards shouldn’t be plain. The new Magnolia SVG cuts are so fast to make using your electronic cutter and they look so detailed and elegant. Customize your notecards mixing and matching cuts and create a personalized card that everyone will love!

New Tutorial with The Crafter’s Workshop: Monoprinted and Textured Backgrounds

Today is the beginning of my journey as part of the The Crafter’s Workshop Stencils Design Team and I couldn’t be happier. To celebrate I’m sharing a detailed step by step tutorial on these Tropical themed monoprinted and textured cards on TCW’s blog
Out of all the stencil techniques I’ve tried out, adding texture to stenciled patterns has to be one of my favorite things to do. You’ll find glitter, embossing powder, mica as texture finishes, and it was lots of fun to experiment with all those different mediums. I’m also using one of my favorite stencils: TCW643 Infinite Lace by Rebekah Meier. I used craft paints this time and as you can see I’ve been into bold, Summer colors lately so I had to go for a strong color combo this time also. I used the new Magnolia Dreams flower stamp to finish my cards, some SVG leaf cuts and a word bead colored with alcohol markers.

TUTORIAL

Click here to view the complete step by step tutorial on TCW Stencils blog. This technique makes your backgrounds look so elaborate, especially with this beautiful medallion stencil, but you’ll find that it is not hard to make at all. You will need to get your hands dirty with paints -which is one of the most freeing aspects of mixed media- but other than that, I know you will love making this project.

Leave me a comment letting me know what you think! It’s my first time posting for TCW so it would be great to hear from you! Thanks so much for stopping by. See you on TCW’s blog!

Adding Shimmer to SVG cuts Easily + Giveaway! – New Digital Release and Design Team!

We started the month with an amazing blog hop with Paper Tempress and today we continue the celebration with our New Release Blog Hop. Today we introduce more new designers that have joined our team for 2017-2018 and who have many project ideas that I know you’ll love!

We have released 3 new stamp sets, a paper pack and an SVG set! We have a special collection for the first time called Magnolia Dreams that includes coordinating stamps, papers and SVG cuts. It has a beautiful color theme in fuscia and teal. To complement this collection, Paper Temptress has put together a specialty paper pack that coordinates with the theme. You can find out more about that on yesterday’s blog hop!

Today I have a card and a gift card holder to share featuring the Magnolia Dreams collection. I’m having lots of fun with the new svg cut files and I love that I was able to design them to coordinate with the pattern in the digital papers.

The new SVG files are so versatile. I resized the medallion on Cricut Design Space and cut them in 2 different sizes. The large one was cut from Teal Basis 80# which is a matte cardstock, I used a brush to apply mixed media adhesive and then covered it with Colorbox Winter Frost glitter. The smaller medallion was cut from Self Adhesive Toner Sheets and then foiled with Teal Deco Foil in a laminator. These are just 2 ways you can customize your SVG cuts and as you can see it is very simple to do!

I cut the gift card holder with one of Anna Griffin’s newest cartridges, cutting all the elements with our new digital patterned papers. Our digital paper pack comes with a Magnolia branch clipart and those are the perfect finishing embellishments for your projects. I usually like to finish my printed elements with a bit of Glitter Dust spray which not only seals the print but also adds a beautiful soft sparkle. That is another fun way of adding shimmer to your SVG cuts and the best part is this spray won’t smudge the ink on your prints, on the contrary it will protect them and make them more durable.

As you can see even the inside of the gift card holder uses digital paper prints. Digital paper packs are the perfect way to customize projects, but my favorite part is you can print them over and over again, so you never run out of your favorite patterns.

3 Giveaways + New Magnolia Dreams Collection & Paper Temptress Blog Hop

Today is the beginning of a new design team term and we are introducing 13 amazing designers from all over the world! Also, we are celebrating this new journey with a digital collection like you’ve never seen before!

Our August release features for the first time a unique coordinating collection called Magnolia Dreams that includes a stamp set; a paper pack in 2 of my favorite colors: Fuscia and Teal; and, for the first time on our shop, an SVG set of 5 cuts that coordinate with the patterns on our new paper pack.

Graciellie Design is also collaborating this month with Paper Temptress not only with this amazing blog hop but also with an exclusive specialty paper release created to coordinate perfectly with our new Magnolia Dreams collection

This variety pack is a physical product that includes 23 sheets of high quality cardstock and it even includes a few extra ribbon goodies! It is available for purchase on Paper Temptress shop starting today! The colors were carefully selected to match our digital paper pack perfectly and the colors, textures and metallics you will get in this pack are beyond stunning!

My card for today is a mix of everything fuscia and teal from the new release! I drew this Magnolia flower from scratch inspired on the beautiful vintage Magnolia branch motif on the digital papers. This flower comes with a transparent background (just as the sentiments do). I uploaded the flower to my Cricut space, saved it as a print and cut file and the Cricut Explore Air 2 cut it out for me, saving me lots of time!

The flower was colored with Prismacolor pencils. This is my second time using this medium and though it takes longer than other coloring media do, you are able to add so much detail to the image. In this case I layered the color slowly and blended using 3 colors and a light color that helped create a soft transition between every hue.

All the papers used on this card come from Paper Temptress Magnolia Dreams Specialty Paper Collection. I used Cryogen White to print the digital papers (which makes the patterns shimmer), Nero Incandescent for the black frames, Teal Basis for the branch die cuts, Kraft for the printed sentiment and a delicate soft pink for the cardbase.

The patterns, colors and cardstocks coordinate so nicely and the result you’re going to get with this collection will always be bright and beautiful! All I needed to do to finish this card was add some teal rhinestones from Eyelet Outlet and I was done!
