Know that God will – ODBD Color Inspiration

unHello and welcome to a new month of wonderful new releases and challenges at Our Daily Bread Designs. Our first challenge of the month is a Color Inspiration challenge. This week’s palette is so pretty!

I decided to use lilac, teal and soft blue for the challenge combining metallic cardstocks and a delicate polka dot pattern from the Christmas Paper Collection 2014 for my 5″ by 5″ card.

I am excited about the new die sets released this month and today I’m sharing a card I made using the new Layered Lacey Squares Dies. This time I altered the largest square to create a nice frame around the center of the card.

I die cut two large squares from lilac cardstock and cut them in a little over a half. I adhered both pieces in diagonal orientation but very close to each other on the center, almost as if creating a larger square with the die cut pieces. Before adding a blue lacey square on the center I added two pieces of ribbon diagonally. Now, the blue square on the center is also altered, but you can certainly skip that step if you want to.

For the central label I stamped first a subtle lilac background using the new Amazing Grace stamp. Then I stamped a sentiment from the recently released God Quotes stamp set in black. Once I stenciled the label I decided I’d add some nice pearls and rhinestones to finish the design. Oh, and I also folded the lace borders inwards to add dimension!

I hope you enjoyed today’s post! To see all the projects created for ODBDSLC233 or to join the challenge click here. You have until April 12, 2015 at 8:00pm EDT to join us. Beautiful Stamps + Dies

Cardmaking has become more elegant and interesting thanks to the new supplies and machines being created from a few years back until now. I’m sure more and more new and improved supplies will continue to be released, but I still remember that one time when I made a heart shaped card for Valentine’s when I was in Preschool. Or that other time when I made a small card with a Little Mermaid’s sticker to send it to my oldest cousin in Brazil when I was 10. Cardmaking should be inspirational in any case and that is why I enjoy meaningful and versatile products that I can use over and over to share my creativity with others. This is the case with the beautiful stamps and dies from Our Daily Bread Designs that I used for today’s card.

ODBD just released a couple of the products being featured today: Amazing Grace background stamp and Layered Lacey Square Dies. Love these! I used dye ink to stamp the background and the sentiment on subtle patterned papers. This is a great technique that adds texture and depth to your stamping.

I layered various dies but I did alter the largest lacey square to make it larger, by cutting it in half and adhering the halves slightly apart from each other, vertically. The next layer is actually made with the same die cut used for the previous square, cut at 1/3 and adhered to create the illusion of a full square. Altered dies sometimes need to be finished with a piece of ribbon or paper and that is just what I did on this card.

Finally I added the central label (sponged with green ink) that I think frames this inspiring sentiment beautifully, and I also added a few rhinestones.

I truly hope you feel inspired to try out some of the techniques I’ve shared with you today! I invite you to visit ODBD’s website to check out the new release, that I think you’ll absolutely love!

Thanks so much for your kind visit today! Hope you stop by again soon!

Stripes ‘n Snowflakes

A new challenge is up at Classy Cards ‘n Such: Christmas Brights, and I decided to mix a few patterns with bright colors to create my card this week! I certainly went a little CAS with this one!

I used Spellbinders dies mostly to make my card. I altered some Fancy Label Tags Two die cuts, cut them in half and used them as borders, adhering them to the back of the yellow block.

I mixed two different snowflake sets to create that large snowflake. The largest snowflake was die cut with the Snowflake Pendant set from Spellbinders and the smallest one was cut with the Snowflake set from Stampendous. I double mounted the snowflakes to give them more dimension and embellished them with some Baby Rhinestones Silver.
